Fighting Climate Change: What Does the Loss and Damage Fund Mean?

COP, the Conference of the Parties, is the annual climate summit where countries that are parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change come together. Topics such as emission reduction, adaptation, finance and climate justice are discussed at these meetings.

The Loss and Damage Fund was introduced to support countries severely affected by climate-related events such as floods, droughts, storms, rising sea levels and agricultural losses. It is especially important for communities that have contributed least to the climate crisis but experience its effects most intensely.
